Bug reports on core system for v0.3 RC2 only

installed but...

Postby bjazmoore » Sat Apr 25, 2009 3:02 am

I am installing on Windows XP also. Running as localhost. PHP 5.2.6

I made changes to my .htaccess that were recommended in another post where I saw some of my issues. I know I can use server2go (I downloaded it, but would rather develop in the environment that I will deploy into).

I guess the CMS engine is working. I get the menu, but no content. I also do not get any CSS applied. I see all the PHP warnings as well.

My current permission structure is 777 on all files and folders (it is local, no problem there), so it is not a permission issue.

I have not installed into the the root of localhost (as I have 20 or 30 sites there under various folders) - the url is: http://localhost/razorcms - to me it seems like some of the file based resources can not fiure out the sub-folder operation.

Hiya,

I made changes to my .htaccess that were recommended in another post where I saw some of my issues. I know I can use server2go (I downloaded it, but would rather develop in the environment that I will deploy into).

Can you tell me what your getting issue's with exactly, you say it's working with server2go, but not on another local host, can you tell me exactly what the local host is running (apache, I know but what is the name of the setup your using).

The biggest issues I see are with server configs, sometimes you just have to jump in, find out what servers don't like razor, why and see if we can jiggle things round to suit them all.

What changes did you make to htaccess, can you post them, your issues sound to me to be related to either trying to use the sef url addon, can you confirm that you are using this, or are you running normal php url's, this makes the world of difference.

I would assume you are running sef url as you are getting no css file loading, this is due to incorrect path in htaccess, have you tried rewrite base???

if you can be a little more specific about your setup, what addons your using and your htaccess contents we can work something out.

Whith the next release and the release of the backup tool, there should be the possibility to construct off line, create backup, install online and upload the backup, if thats the way you like it. There is also the possibility to run locally, but affecting an online install, this is experimental but works well.

Should you feel totally paranoid about security, you can delete the whole admin end and still have a functional site, but with no admin end, you could then alter files locally, and the site would be completely and utterly secure, as there would be no admin end on the live server.

we're all about giving the user the power to do what he wants with razor, after all we're doing this for you guys so you might aswell have the control of it.

If you can give me some of the info in this post i'll see if i can give you some answers.

Well, the problem is IIS. The code uses $SERVER[Request_URI] to determine the path to various parts of the CMS for various elements. However $SERVER[Request_URI] is not supported by IIS. It simply returns an empty string. So the paths are not complete so the resources (like CSS and content) do not load.

Again, multiple configurations and servers causing headaches, no biggy though.

razor generally tries to work out paths by itself, so what we need to do is push the variable back to a small function, and make this switchable for windows systems. There are several ways to work out paths, off the top of my head, you could use $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] inplace, I think this should give the same results and be IIS compatable.

In the next rev I will try and push this out to a more intelligent function, there has been issues in the past with working out paths, so I will take another stab at it. Let me know if you can get it working with the info above.

I have replaced the parts I am having trouble with with the $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] and it is working now. Very nicely I might add.

Cool,

I know this can be an issue with some servers, I switched to request URI a while back as support seemed better, maybe I should not try to have a one cap fits all solution to this, and go for a more intelligent function to catch both.

I will try to add a fix into the next release for this, switching to this if server is IIS.
